Bridge Beats Summer Concert Series Returns with “Chalk Walk”

Lincoln Financial Group as presenting Entertainment Sponsor

(OMAHA, Neb. - April 15, 2016) – Bridge Beats free summer concert presented by the City of Omaha Parks and Recreation returns to the downtown Omaha riverfront for its fourth season. This year, Omaha Parks and Recreation has secured Lincoln Financial Group as the entertainment sponsor, and National Park Service Lewis and Clark NHT as the “Chalk Walk” sponsor.

A favorite summer event for both residents and visitors, the upbeat concerts will feature local talent under the new shade structure, food trucks, and interactive chalk drawings throughout the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge Plaza. This summer’s concert schedule begins on Friday, June 10 and continues every other Friday night through August 19. Concerts are scheduled 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

“We value our new partnership with Lincoln Financial Group and ongoing partnership with National Park Service,” said Emily Burgess, special projects coordinator for the City of Omaha Parks and Recreation. “The support from all community sponsors is resulting in a steady increase in visitors and we’re excited to see this momentum continue.”

“The Bridge Beats concert series will draw city families and individuals to the river for a community experience of music and chalk walk art,” said Deb Washler, Lincoln Financial Foundation’s Omaha program officer. “Bringing households and friends together to share cultural experiences and live greater lives is an important priority for Lincoln Financial Group. We are gratified to partner with the Omaha Parks and Recreation Department to offer these free summer events.”

The “Chalk Walk” will kick off with featured 3-D chalk artist, Jennifer Chaparro from Palm Beach, Florida. Jennifer has been practicing chalk art since 2004, when she began participating in the Street Painting Festival in Lake Worth, Florida, which is the largest street painting event in the United States. Using soft pastel chalk on pavement or concrete surfaces, Jennifer creates large works of art that come to life before your eyes.

“From music fans, to families, to outdoor and art enthusiasts, everyone is going to find something to love about Bridge Beats this summer,” said Emily Burgess.
